Our Story

It started with one home.

Genesis Custom Homes was born from a commitment to excellence and a desire to redefine homebuilding. Founder and owner Tim Powell began by building his own family’s residence — and what started as the Powell family home quickly grew into a vision of helping other families build theirs.

From the very first project, Tim kept homeowners involved at every step. That simple idea is still the foundation of how Genesis builds today, nearly thirty years later, across the Texas Hill Country.

Tim founded Genesis Custom Homes in 1997 after building his own family’s home. He is still on site today, personally overseeing construction of every Genesis home from the first sketch to the final walk-through, and he keeps progress follow-up in-house rather than handing it to subcontractors. Under his leadership Genesis has earned Parade of Homes honors including People’s Choice, and grown to include Genesis Custom Pools.

As General Manager, Preston Williams leads day-to-day operations at Genesis Custom Homes — schedules, selections and client communication — so every homeowner always knows exactly where their build stands and who to call.

Founder Tim Powell owns Genesis Custom Homes and personally oversees construction of every home. Preston Williams is the General Manager and leads day-to-day operations, scheduling and client communication.
