We specialize in new beginnings.

Genesis began with a single home — the Powell family’s own. Building it convinced founder and owner Tim Powell that creating a home should be one of life’s most exciting experiences, and that every family deserves a builder who treats it that way.

Since 1997, Genesis has been the creative link between homeowner, builder, architect and interior designer across the Texas Hill Country. We’re still family-owned, and Tim still oversees every home personally — from the first sketch to the final walk-through.

Tim founded Genesis Custom Homes in 1997 after building his own family’s home. Nearly three decades later he is still on site, personally overseeing construction of every Genesis home and keeping progress follow-up in-house rather than handing it to subcontractors.

Where does Genesis Custom Homes build?

We build luxury custom homes throughout the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio, including Spring Branch, Bulverde, Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, Leon Springs, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, Kendalia, Kerrville and North San Antonio. Who owns and runs Genesis Custom Homes?

Genesis Custom Homes is family-owned and operated. Founder and owner Tim Powell has led the company since 1997 and personally oversees construction of every home. General Manager Preston Williams leads day-to-day operations, scheduling and client communication.

What happens at the free consultation?

It’s a relaxed conversation at our model home in Boerne or on your property about your vision, your lot and your budget. We’ll explore possibilities, review design concepts and give you a clear understanding of costs and timelines — all before you make any commitment. There’s no cost and no obligation.

How much does a custom home cost in the Texas Hill Country?

Every Genesis home is different, so cost depends on size, design, finishes and the homesite itself. Hill Country lots can involve limestone excavation, slopes, wells and septic systems. Most Genesis homes fall between about $700,000 and $3 million. You’ll get transparent numbers during your consultation, before anything is signed.

How long does it take to build a custom home?

Timelines depend on the size and complexity of the home and the homesite. You’ll receive a clear schedule during your consultation — before you commit — and we keep you updated at every stage of construction.

Can you build on land I already own?

Yes. We regularly build on our clients’ own lots and acreage across the Hill Country, and we’ll walk the property with you to plan the home around its views and terrain. If you don’t have land yet, our real estate team can help you find the right homesite.

Do you build custom pools too?

We do. More than 80% of our clients ask for a pool, so we created Genesis Custom Pools. Building only Genesis Custom Home projects. Your award-winning pool and outdoor living spaces are designed alongside your home by the same team, on one schedule.

Will I work directly with the owner?

Yes. Tim Powell personally oversees construction, and progress follow-up is never handed off to subcontractors, so you always have a direct line to the people building your home. Preston Williams handles the day to day on-site operations on your project and is in close communication with Tim daily regarding project progress.
